Summary
Background
In 2020 we took part in an Activy challenge for the first time. Our main goal was to get moving the employees who, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, were stuck at home and cut off from their colleagues.
We care about their wellbeing, so we wanted to get them active and involved in doing things together. The Activy program fitted our needs perfectly.
Working with Activy, we encouraged employees to be physically active on a regular basis and, at the same time, supported several charities in Poland with a total of PLN 7,000.
The challenge
It was our first adventure with an app like this. We had never organized company sports challenges before. We knew that some individuals took part in competitions, but never had so many people got involved!
We decided to run the challenge for the whole year. At the very beginning there was a lot of positive energy, but as the competition went on, the excitement faded a little. That is why regular communication and rewarding employees are so important in such a long challenge.
In the end, we managed to raise the full amount for the charity goal. And next year, having learned from experience, we plan to split the challenge into four 3-month rounds. That will let us keep communication regular and keep employees motivated for longer.
Results
Charity goal + sports challenge = a double benefit!
Good deeds and responsibility motivate our employees, so we decided to put the choice of charity in the hands of the winners. As their prize, they could choose a foundation or institution to which we would donate the funds raised during the challenge.
This way, we supported various organizations all over Poland, including an animal shelter, children's villages, TOPR (the Tatra Volunteer Search and Rescue) and WOŚP (the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity).
This kind of team activity had a positive effect on employee engagement and brought people together around a shared goal.
Another nice touch of working with Activy were the prizes for the most active participants of our challenge: good quality bike locks. Gadgets like these never go to waste with us!
